Planet – towards carbon neutrality

Climate change is the single biggest health threat facing humanity, impacting both health and healthcare systems. As a health and wellbeing company, we have a unique responsibility to take action, in accordance with our vision, for a healthier tomorrow.

Minimising our environmental impact is a high priority for us. To shape a sustainable future for societies, we have set an ambitious goal in line with the 1.5 degrees ambition of the Paris Agreement: to become a carbon-neutral company by 2030. Our long-term goal covers both the direct and energy related emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) from our own operations and the indirect emissions from the supply chain (Scope 3).

As part of this goal, in 2021 we committed to achieve carbon neutrality in our own operations by 2025. This means reducing to zero CO2 emissions from sources owned by the company and purchased energy. Our other intermediate targets are that by the end of 2023, we only use renewable electricity and carbon-neutral heat in our properties and at least 87% of all non-pharmaceutical waste is recycled.

We are working towards these targets through systematic environmental management, which means we are continually identifying opportunities to decrease our environmental impact, and assessing our performance. As part of these efforts, we are also working in close cooperation with our partners and suppliers.
